OBAASIMA: The Hair Appointment

Our trip to Ghana couldn’t have been much more fulfilling. We spent the first few days of 2020 developing a concept to extend the narrative of The Hair Appointment. Then, we brought together a team of wonderful creatives in Accra to bring the idea to life via photography. “Obaasima,” the title, refers to a virtuous woman, or someone who is multifaceted, engaged, and well groomed. We used this opportunity to bring forth a vibrant piece that blends fashion, culture, and tradition to present a young lady on her journey to and from the common appointment.
