In its fifth installment, Jump Ball brings forth a story from the heart of Lagos. This series highlights the story of Doyinsola Lijirin, the 6’4 rising star from Bariga. As women’s basketball continues to skyrocket across the continent, we used this series as an opportunity to shed light on the talent still emerging in Nigeria. She stands as a voice for the youth, and her determination has landed her opportunities to represent Nigeria overseas. Doyinsola Lijirin is the next big thing!

One way or another, basketball serves as a beacon of hope for many across Africa.

Unlike many, Doyinsola discovered her love for basketball through friendly matches with her older brother and his peers. It took no time for her to master the fundamentals, before joining various junior leagues across the city. Her potential has been proven limitless, as she serves as a voice for youth, while frequently representing Nigeria at international competitions. Her time is now!
